A/V: Thundercat – “The Beyond/Where the Giants Roam”

Thundercat stays busy. As a singer, songwriter, producer, and bassist for Suicidal Tendencies; it’s a wonder the man has time to sleep. Born Stephen Bruner, Thundercat has been collaborating with numerous artists over the course of his musical career. He’s worked with Erykah Badu and Flying Lotus multiple times and in 2015 alone has had a hand in two of the more influential albums to come out this year. Bruner had a central role in the production of Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly and in the production of Kamasi Washington’s The Epic.

Bruner has now also released a solo mini album, entitled The Beyond/Where the Giants Roam. The album features more collaborative efforts with Flying Lotus as well as legendary Jazz artist, Herbie Hancock. With six songs and only sixteen minutes long, it manages to fit an immense amount of jazz fusion and funk into such a small offering incredibly well. You can stream the album on Spotify now.
