A/V: Chelsea Wolfe – “Carrion Flowers”

In ‘The Most Interesting Thing You’ll Hear All Day’ news; Los Angeles singer-songwriter, Chelsea Wolfe, has released a new single from her upcoming album. The track, called Carrion Flowers, is the second track to be featured from Abyss which is set to come out on August 7th on Sargent House. Wolfe has admitted to experiencing regular bouts of sleep paralysis and has described Abyss to be influenced by the experience of “…dreaming, and you briefly wake up, but then fall back asleep into the same dream, diving quickly into your own subconscious.”

She masterfully blurs the lines between drone metal, psychedelia, and folk on Carrion Flowers. The track becomes almost entrancing as she molds a helpless gloom by juxtaposing eerie, industrial sounds against delicate, airy vocals. For those in the same neck of the woods as I am, Chelsea Wolfe will be playing Hopscotch Festival in Raleigh, NC on September 10-12.
